What is above
So I was flying around over the island, side by side with my seagull buddies. Sorry for the crashes, but the F-16 isn't such an easy machine :)

Nothing but flowers
I was caught in another big traffic jam so I rather left the car and walked through a field of flowers.

Wallpapers - July
I was playing around with Google/now Trimble SketchUp, found some nice models by >> bofraz (Beatles) and >> jostjen (70's Sedan Beetle) in the 3D Warehouse and thought they're good enough to share.
It's easier now to save them in original image size (these are actually 1680x1050). Just click on a image for the big view, then right-click and "Save Image as ..." - enjoy!
Little horses
On my trip through the heathland reserve I found this herd of Koniks, a polish breed of small and hardy horses which are - more or less - living in the wild here. According to wikipedia "Konik" means "small horse" or "Pony" in polish.
Heathlands
The weather has changed to hot summer now, so I visited a near nature reserve and took a long walk through the heath.

The whale
Being home with a flu I recently watched Ric Burns interesting documentary "Nantucket" (trailer here) about the rise and decline of the american whaling industry in the 19th century and started some rough sketches and whale modeling.

The seals are back
It's been a long and cold winter, but now the sun comes thru more often and raises the temperature to enjoyable levels sometimes. As the ugly days seem to be over I've been more outdoors again for the last two weeks. While strolling along the coastline I suddenly noticed that someone is curiously observing me ...

Harry Whittier Frees
Wallpaper 1680 x 1050
Once I found this mysterious picture on the net, not knowing anything about the artist or when it was created. Thought it was some kind of Retro-Art, but I liked it for some reason so I made it wallpaper size and have used it in my desktop rotation for years. Whenever it showed on my screen I got curious again where it came from and thought I should find out more about it.
Now I came across the Museum Syndicate site and discovered this and more of the works of Harry Whittier Frees.

Let there be more noise!
I was walking down the beach the other day, listening to music from the last century. Suddenly I had to sneeze very hard and my headphones popped out of my ears so that The Art of Noise spread their sounds all over the place. A nearby caw-bird noticed this and began to dance and so did the waves of the ocean and they started to shine in endless changing colours.

Some other birds
So I went to a zoo and took pictures of some other birds than my beloved seagulls and crows. Thx to the Internet Bird Collection I could find out a few of the bird names. This red guy above is a Scarlet Ibis (Eudocimus ruber)

Finally: Confusão
Confusão - the breathtaking local Samba percussion group and initiators of the "Bremer Karneval" at their gig to the end of the street show.
It's carnival time!
So I left my island and crossed the seven seas for our annual meeting with viti of vitiworks at the Bremen Karneval, which has become a must visit for us in recent years.

Life On Mars
As I've seen on the documentary channels, Earth's most renowned scientists are sending robot vehicles to Mars. Not just only for research, to find out more about that red planet. From what I've heard, they're also busy with the question if human life would be possible up there, and, if not, whether they could generate earth-like life conditions - at least in some big biosphere buildings or something. The simple and obviously serious idea behind this: Continuous exploitation of Earth resources will end in severe damage of the planet some day, so let's look already for another one to be colonized.
Now, this is a bit scaring, because further destruction of this planet seems out of question and almost inevitable for some of these science guys, while looking for solutions to make a far away dust ball habitable is a highly interesting challenge. Brilliant. So, finally I got convinced and decided to fire my own lander device up - I called it "Elephantosity" - just to find me a nice place to settle down and live my life in peace then ...
