It's carnival time!
So I left my island and crossed the seven seas for our annual meeting with viti of vitiworks at the Bremen Karneval, which has become a must visit for us in recent years.
It's been the 25th Bremen Carnival, since years an increasingly known cultural event in the small city up in the north of Germany. The street performances of the many groups who gather here range from african and latino rhythm bands - mainly Samba - to street acting and mask theatre. As the Bremen Carnival sees itself as an alternative to the traditional carnivals in southern Germany, this years motto has been "Fairkehrte Welt", which is a basically a wordplay in the sense of living in an unfair, economically perverted world and the thought of "fair trade". This is why you see lots of bananas, coffee sacks and waste bags as costumes in the pictures.
Due to the costumes and bad recognition I couldn't tag the photos properly with the names of the groups, so here's the official list of all performers on the Bremer Karneval homepage.
An elephant island bro?
